Our Chapel
|
The candle-lit Jacobean chapel, one of England's most beautiful almshouse chapels, lies at the heart of our community. Residents of diverse denominations are encouraged to join services each Sunday for Choral Holy Communion at 10.00am. Our tradition is the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Morning worship is followed by coffee in the Blackford Room and is usually hosted by one of our Residents..
We have a small enthusiastic choir which sings at our services and festivities and welcomes new members. Throughout the year local schools and musical ensembles provide concerts, which are open to the public. |

The Choir |
We have our own Chapel Choir to sing at the services each Sunday. The choir leads the worship in the regular Sunday Choral 1662 Morning Prayer and Holy Communion. This includes the traditional Anglican psalms, responses, canticles, hymns and a service setting. The choir also sings at Good Friday, Harvest Festival and Carol Services, usually including an anthem. The Choir, made up of residents and non-residents from the locality, practices every Thursday afternoon under the professional direction of Organist and Director of Music, Barbara Jenkinson.
Our organist says: "We are always pleased to welcome new members to the choir." |
