Facilities for Residents

Set up as a charity in the early 1600s, the Hugh Sexey’s Foundation offers excellent subsidised accommodation which allows for independent living within a community as well as privacy, security and open integration within the beautiful town of Bruton.
  • Two non-resident Wardens assist the Master in the oversight and pastoral care of the residents. All rooms have emergency alarm on site call systems.  Whilst called Wardens, they can only provide neighbourly support; medical and care support is the responsibility of the individual as we are not registered with the Care and Quality Commission (CQC)..
  • Flats are on ground and first floors, with a few on the second floor providing excellent views.
  • All flats have sitting room, kitchen or galley kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
  • There is designated car-parking for most residents.
  • Hospital gates are locked at night and opened early in the morning to ensure security, but all residents have their own keys and are free to come and go as they please.
  • There are two guest suites for residents to use for their families and friends, for a which a small donation is welcome.
  • Residents elect two of their number to sit as observers on the House Sub-Committee, at which matters of collective concern can be expressed.
  • Produce from the two-acre organic garden of vegetables, fruit and flowers is provided for residents through the year.
  • Situated on the High Street with easy access to Post Office, shops, pubs, restaurants, bus stop and station.

“Being looked after, always someone around. Peace, tranquillity and feeling safe”
